ASK takes First Place in Yorktown’s 3rd Annual Holiday Lights Parade

ASK takes First Place for having the Most Spirit in Yorktown’s 3rd Annual Holiday Lights Parade.

On December 7, ASK was well represented in the Holiday Lights Parade by over 30 amazing youth from the Yorktown community. This year’s float theme was, “A Bright Future for Yorktown” and bright we were! The effort was communal but a few special acknowledgements are in order. Thank you to the volunteers that not only helped to design and create the float but braved the cold to walk along side or on it.

Thank you to the volunteer’s parents that either walked along or lined the parade route to cheer them on.  A very hearty thank you goes out to Lakeland High School Senior, Dan Murphy. Dan single handed crafted the wonderful winter scenes that adorned the float. He stood in the pouring rain making final design decisions on Saturday and was working up until 5pm on parade day making sure that everything was just right. Dan’s brother Aidan was there to lend a hand during the final hours and we thank him for that.

Thank you to the Tolli family for allowing us to use their trailer, making sure that we had lights and sound and for safely navigating us through the parade route. The parade is a wonderful community event and it offered us the opportunity to work together with different age groups and families. The message to our youth is clear, together we are their safety net and they do have a bright future!
