Support ASK

The Alliance for Safe Kids is a Yorktown-based non-profit organization. All our programs are focused on reducing issues damaging to kids - substance abuse, gang involvement, gambling, and other destructive behavior - and promoting community efforts to keep our kids safe. Your contribution helps to underwrite all of these programs.

Crisis Assistance: Local Resources Available

ASK volunteers have gathered lists of local resources which we will continue to update. Please click here for a list of counseling services provided locally, and here for a list of crisis services both local and county-wide.

And if you see or hear of something that worries you, but you want to remain anonymous? Just call the

Yorktown Police Department tips line at (914) 962-TIPS

or 962-8477.

Spot the Warning Signs

While it is extremely rare, suicide has an overwhelming impact on both families and the community. The following is provided in hope of preventing this tragedy.

In an Acute Crisis

  • If a friend or loved one is threatening or making plans for suicide, these are signs of an acute crisis.
  • Do not leave the person alone.
  • Remove from the vicinity any firearms, drugs or sharp objects that could be used for suicide.
  • Take the person to an emergency room or walk-in clinic at a psychiatric hospital.
  • If a psychiatric facility is unavailable, go to your nearest hospital or clinic.
  • If the above options are unavailable, call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
